So I Became a Star
Sitting by the water on a cold afternoon
Waiting for the lights promised to me soon
As the sun goes down, the tides deepen their stride
and kiss my toes gently, my glee I can’t hide
In truth, I can’t feel it, not even a bit
for earlier that morning, my heart quit
I felt no sadness, held on to no pain
as my time here began to wane
Just like the waves, I slipped away gently
In truth, that tired old body was bothersome lately
I’m happy to be here, looking out at the bay
Not a care, for my worries are worlds away
The stars and moon twinkle, winking for me
I’m rising, I’m floating, finally free.
