Hey guys I’m home, exclaimed Cassie

Hey Cassie!!! How was your day? Asked Cassie’s mom

Great how about you?

It was good, but long,

Oh, ok well I hope it gets better from here,

Me too, but it won’t.

What do you mean? Cassie asked curiously

You’re ‘bout to find out, said Veronica

Hey girls, come here we need have to family meeting, said

Cassie’s parents “There is something your mom and I need to explain to y’all,” explained her parents.

Did someone do something stupid and now all of us are in trouble? Caitlin asks

Do you have to go on another deployment? Cami asks

Nope, not even close. Suggests Antonio

Then what is it? Cassie asked confusingly

WE’RE MOVING!!!! Shouted Antonio

Moving where, Cassie asks furiously, can’t I just stay with a friend? She begged

To Kansas, said Veronica

Does that place even exist? asked Cassie

Yea it’s a real place, stated Antonio

Are you sure? Cami asked curiously

I thought that’s where Dorothy and Toto live!! Joked Caitlin trying to ease up the tension

I’ll just click my heels three times and hopefully I’ll be home!! Said Cassie trying to forget about moving

Ok, I’m leaving now because I don’t wanna hear how this conversation is gonna end

No Cassie come back an-

I’M DONE! Cassie screamed,

We’ll just let her have her space and maybe talk about this later girls, just go back to doing what you were doing

Cassie I- I know this is gonna sound cheesy but I’m here for you and I know how you feel

NO YOU DON’T AND I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT BECAUSE THEY’RE ONLY LYING, you don’t know how it feels to go through this because you were born here so you have never had to move and leave people behind. You have never had to try to fit in all over again just to find out that you’re moving again. So when you know how that feels then let me know but until then GET OUT AND DON’T BOTHER ME EVER AGAIN.

Well don’t say I never tried, Caitlin and Cami yelled through the shut door of Cassie’s room,

Well it’s been a few hours I think we need to eat dinner,

Cassie are you done with your homework?

Yes, but I don’t wanna come out,

Well, come eat your dinner and then you can go back in your room,There are still some things we need to discuss about this move that you really need to know,

Not this again, I thought we were done with this but apparently not,

You need to know that we are moving 2 days after your birthday and all of our stuff will be packed up before you birthday so you can’t have a big birthday anymore

Great just when I thought that today was the best day ever, it got worse and officially became the worst day of my life. I hate the army and I wish we never had to move in the first place. Oh, and don’t forget the part where I have to spend my birthday packing the rest of my stuff to leave without any friends or fun. Thanks this conversation is just what I needed to hear.

So all of the hard work I did trying to find all of my party favors and making the best invitations in my class was for nothing because on my birthday I have to spend it packing, whined Caitlin

Well better sooner than later right?

Not the time for jokes Dad. I’m done with dinner, I’m not hungry anymore.

Well the packers are gonna start packing us up in 2 days, so at least have the clothes that you don’t want them to pack separated

Whatever, I’m not in the mood to do anything anymore. Thanks a lot army. Now that we’re actually here I hate the army even more because there is nothing to do or see. We’re literally in the middle of nowhere.

Well in 3 years that will all change

Did you forget that we we’re talking about the army dad?

Well before you know it, it’ll be time to head somewhere else and these 3 years will go by super-fast. But I might just turn out to like this place after all.

The author's comments:

This is mainly for all of the military kids that are going through the hardest part of their lives moving. I'm not going to say that i know what your going through because while it may seem like I do, everybody's is different. I'm not gonna tell you I know how you feel because everyone handles situations in their own way and while our emotions might be the same how we express our emotions are totally different.
