The sun in the summer burns hot like an iron.
I feel like a grape with no skin, delicate and fragile.
I know that I will not have much time to watch TV with my family now.
I am a terrified and lonely freshmen from a tiny pond of a school.

The leaves fall in layers onto the pavement in autumn.
I eat salad and watch the drama at my lunch table.
My friends quarrel and yell like they are on a reality TV show.
As a sophomore, I feel helpless and threatened at lunch.

The snow does not fall as much as it did last year.
The number of people at lunch has lessened too like leaves being pulled off an artichoke.
Our table is almost as small as Regina's in Mean Girls, but we are not nearly as mean.
My friends and I miss the people that have left us at the beginning of junior year terribly.

The flowers bloom and then die in the spring.
My friends and I  eat lunch together one last time.
Graduation is in no way  as easy as it looks in the movies.
We  hug one last time as we laugh and cry our eyes out at the end of our senior year.

This piece is about my friends that I eat lunch with and our journey through high school. I hope that it shows people that friends see each other's problems and love each other anyway.
