Hunter
You anger me,
Like a fire burns indoors.
You hug me,
Like a monster hugs its victims.
You hate me,
Like a cat hates a dog.
You love me,
Like a cannibal loves flesh.
You shove me away,
Like a murderer buries the dead.
But you always manage to pull me back,
Like a dog drags a corpse.
I am forced to please you,
as a lion pleases its master.
Entertain you,
as a dolphin entertains an audience.
Care for you,
as a nurse cares for the dying.
Hate you,
as a fire destroys a home.
Break you,
as a child breaks its arm.
Fix you,
as an undertaker dresses a corpse.
But I can never keep you away,
like a stalker preys on its victims.
I am Samuel,
you are the Babadook.
I always try to run away.

The movie "Babadook" inspired me to write this poem, and it was also based off my relationship with one of my exes.
