Sinking
Tied to a rope
at the bottom of the sea.
We lose our ability to think.
What will become of us
as the tide comes along?
We’re floating.
Trying not to sink.
A wave breaking rocks
approaches us all.
It's as strong as can be.
But we must choose
whether to swim or fight.
We're blinded
but we can still see.
The water grabs hold
and begs us to drown.
But then we can't escape.
As we're surrounded,
we hold our breaths.
Water fills
the mouths agape.
We want to scream
but our words stay silent.
The water is playing a trick.
It lets the outnumbered team
think it's winning.
This impossible game
makes us sick.
It's a mix of what's
right and wrong,
swirling around the sea.
Our minds are cluttered,
our bodies numb.
We're bounded.
Set us free.
