Tick Tock
A constant noise,
It cannot be evaded,
The veil of childhood,
Hides the ticking from your sight.
But that veil will quickly disappear,
In the teenage years.
Those who can't block that constant noise,
Will end it themselves,
Maybe with a noose,
Or a drug,
Or by running into the street to be run over.
Some endure the noise using work, school, family or even sports.
Eventually old age will overtake you and
No matter the speed of your strides,
The strength of your punches,
The sharpness of your wit,
They always fade away,
Like ancient ruins they will fall apart,
Slowly,
Then all at once.
Like the sharp prick of a dagger,
Death will take you.
Then,
And only then,
Will the ticking cease.
