When she steps on the court
A hush falls over the crowd
She stares down her opponent
assesing her strengths
pointing out her weaknesses
She adjusts her racket
aimed high, pointed to the sun
The neon sphere floats
in slow motion, rotating
The strong arm swing down
Similar to the swiftness of a guillotine
The racket connects with the ball
It soars over the net
and onto the other side
Ace! Long live the queen
