we can't breathe
We can't breathe.
We can't breathe.
It began with the death of a black teenager,
and a white man walking free.
12:01, an unarmed boy and an armed officer.
12:03, 12 shots fired.
One murdered, one killer.
Then riots,
and violence,
and more death.
A father, a son, a sister, a child.
They ensured protection,
but who are they protecting?
Silence! is what they say.
Justice! is what we scream.
Liberty and justice for all?
Land of the free?
A King made a statement that we remember today,
and that is how black lives do matter,
the content of character is more important than the color of skin.
We have a dream,
carried over by generations.
Freedom will ring,
and justice become a reality for those who've been wronged.
These events will be remembered,
go down in history.
We will go down in history.
Racial injustice will burn like tear gas.
We will never be silenced.
We can't breathe.
We can't breathe.
