Police brutality,
Ask what this
Means to me
To not be a white man
In this society.
It’s truly sad to see
That we cannot escape
This grave reality.
That racism does play a role
In how police look at people,
But don’t see a soul.
In this day and age
It’s like the police
Want to keep us locked
Up inside this cage.
This only fuels the fire
Creating anger and rage
I think it’s time we realize
That we are in a new age.
The answer to racism
Is there should be none
That’s easy to say
But it’s time we come
To form a more perfect union
Together as one.
All the labels are in the past
Because life moves ever so fast
And now that all is said and done
No man, woman, or child
Should ever have to suffer by the gun.

With all the news of police brutaltity that has come to light with the Michael Brown shooting, Tamir Rice it got me thinkiong and I wanted to express myself through writing about this controversial topic. I hope people realize that racism is a part of our soceity and it needs to change for the better because we cannot allow these types of things to happen to citizens in these types of communities where the level of distrust between residents and police is high due to shootings like these.
