The weakest ones

We are all like leaves on a tree,
the weakest ones shrivel and fall first
they say
they are wrong
the shriveled ones lack the love, support, the bare necessities to grow
yet, those are the ones we feel the need to pick on
they say chickens are one of the meanest animals
they peck the outcasts to death
essentially,  that's what we are told to do by society
you think these people aren't cool or in the loop, but the loop they’re in is constantly trying to stay above the water
but the water is just too damn high to begin with.
instead of being their lifeguards
We drown them even more.
have you ever thought how easy you got off?
nurtured in the sand till your toes were ready to touch the water
they had no mercy
they were dropped in the ocean and to survive they had to swim
we like to torture them because they didn't rise to become powerful
you think they weren't strong enough
but in fact you were too weak say something decent

I was inspired to write this poem because people think because you have low self-esteem you are weak.
