From Behind

Our life was turned upside down,

Like a storm raging across the Atlantic.
It felt like the beginning of the end.
The end of a joyous season
And the beginning of a dume.
None saw it coming, it approached us from behind.

The wind started swirling
Starting the storm.
The faint smell of gas
Flooded my mother’s nose.
The water heater burst out in floods of gas.
Soon my parent’s hidden whispers,
Of what to do flooded the air.
My fear started build
As we pack up to move out.

The wind swirl faster and faster,
As the next icy waters appeared.
The impact of the swirling wind crushed
The vans bumper.
The only thing the driver saw was
His opening, but not our van.
We were all shaken by the hit, but none was hurt.

The wind swirling turned into a raging storm;
The icy waters turned into an icy patch.
Through the clouds we thought the sun was coming,
But it didn’t seem to.
The storm hit us once again a few weeks later.
The silent rumble of our fridge quilted
And the cool air within warmed.
The whole in our wall filled was filled with
Something tiny compared to the old.

In the next problem the storm started rain.
If this rain pours too long,
Our family could change forever.
Grandma had to go to into surgery
To face the persistent, push, pain of her back.

While it was raining here it started to
Pour in another part of life.
My aunt had to leave
Her waiting, worrying, wondering father.
Her pain presided pushing her over the edge.
Later that night she was found with streams of tears
The pain was too much.
The scan that night changed all of our lives forever.

The next weekend the rain storm turned into
A hail storm.
When I finally found out what the scan revealed.
We were all searching for dad’s missing keys.
On the last loop looking
I was told what that scan had revealed.
A Tumor

My aunt that always spoils people with her love,
Now had a brain tumor.
The swirling winds had turned
Into a bigger storm than anyone had ever imagined.

However hailing rains finally started to slow.
As things began to look up.
When the treatment began, our hope finally returned.
Everything started to turn around.
The storm turned back into only swirling wind
And then started to die off.

Slowly the sun reappeared.
Until lifes next storm hits . . .
