they think that if a person is broken, she can't be fixed.
not ever, because hearts are fragile things,
vulnerable to trust and love and fear,
and once it's smashed, it is forever irreparable.
no amount of stitching, no amount of holding together, no amount of loving will make it whole again
because there are dead, wilted flowers where the meadow used to be
and the overgrown grass covers graves marked with the names of people that have shown up with knives
and left with blood on the hilts.
