The Girl
I see her in the halls,
I see her in class,
but she pretends,
or doesn’t even know
I exist.
I say hello to her
she grunts back a hi.
I sit next to her in class,
and I sometimes help her.
Never a thank you.
I found her number
off of my friend.
I text her hello and who I am.
She doesn’t respond.
I went to her house
for her brother’s party.
I said hello to her
she ignored me.
Is it my clothes?
Or is it my hair?
I asked her brother
why is she like this.
He said she doesn’t like you.
I finally found the reason.
It was just in front of me.
I now slouch when I sit next to her.
I don’t bother to say hello
or even help her.
She said hello when she saw me.
I moan a hey.
She texted me hello.
I didn’t respond.
I fell deeper in my shell of miserableness.
I see her like me now in the halls.
I stopped her.
She had her bookbag, leaving.
I looked her in the eyes,
took a deep breath and asked,
will you go out with me?

During class, we had a "Free write" time so I decided to write a poem of this guy in Middle school or Highschool, trying to talk to his crush. He gets rejected many times, but he never gave up.
