The Window
I look into the window, to find him looking back.
The vacancy in his eyes, as a smile begins to crack.
Behind the mechanical stare, the true intentions lie.
Unclear of whats inside, whether to laugh or to cry.
A sharpened stare passes, dissolving the visual façade.
But only after the heat of the stare, the icy shield is thawed.
The tension in his eyes begins to be relieved.
Only in this moment, has he been known to breathe.
The pattern of his face, the cracks beneath his cheeks, remind me of someone else, as his eyes begin to speak.
The smoky crystal in the eyes, quietly begins to fade away.
Reflecting tales of the past, the pain and pride of other days.
The mystery behind his gaze ceases to remain.
Truth of what has passed is unearthed upon this day.
I comprehend this person before me, and his life becomes truly clearer.
There isn’t nor ever was a window, but only is a mirror.
