Captured
I ventured in a meadow
and seen what I shouldn't seen
you chased me and took me captive
You took me captive
when I saw your secrets
and I fought against you
I tried to run away from you
but you captured me again
I thought I was strong without you
You taught me the ways of nature
that every creature
has a spirit and a soul
You gave me courage when I had none
protected me from the evil
that is closing in on me
You captured my heart
and you returned the favor with your love
Keep my love and I will keep yours
Now I am standing alone in the snow
fighting for my life
looking for you, my love
Quietly shedding tears from my eyes
bracing myself for the fight
the fight to save the world
Remembering the time we spent together
it was long but felt short
Oh yeah too short
You captured my hear
and you returned the favor with your love
keep my love and I will keep yours
for you are my bear heart

I was inspired to write this poem due to one of my all time favorite books "Dakota Captive" by Alythia Brown.
