I am from crosses
from Bibles and belts
I am from the messy blue house on the hill
I am from the lilac bush
the old pine tree
that creaked and groaned in the wind.
I am from church and campfires
from adoptive mom and adoptive dad
I'm from screaming and crying
and from fake smiles.
I'm from "you want a reason to cry"
and "go to hell" and twinkle twinkle little star
I'm from Millersburg and Wooster
from pasta and gooloche
from trips to Disney and long car rides
I'm from good times and bad times
from one messed up family.
