Lets Pretend
I like to play pretend. Let's pretend I am the kind of girl guys like. Lets pretend I'm smart. Let's pretend that someday he will see me, that someday I will be able to do something right, that someday I will be able to accomplish my dreams, lets pretend I go to college, Lets pretend I publish my novel. Let's pretend someday will come. Lets pretend... That someday a boy, that boy, will like me...
But even I wake up occasionally, when I am alone in a crowded room or alone in stiffleing nothingness. When the tears bear down on me and I wrap my arms around my knees, I burry my face in my hands and try to do anything but cry.
I wish the games of pretend could never end, but even I have stopped wanting to play.
