My Escape
It doesn't happen on a specific day
Not on a Monday or a Tuesday
I could happen at any moment!
Daydreaming creeps up on you like a
Lioness stalking its prey.
You never know when it’s going to strike.
Everyday my mind drifts and steals me from reality.
In class, every day, I stare out the window
My mind swiftly wonders off and I’m left in
A world of my own.
I visit London while the teacher talks about quadrilaterals and rectangles.
I visit my imagination while the teacher goes on and on
When my name gets called, I snap back to the real world.
My words consist of “Ums….” And “Uh…”
Before I try to answer the person to my right gets called.
The homework was announced but I wasn't listening
I was back in the world of my own.
I’m back in the world of traveling without having to leave the class.
As I wonder the rain forests of Brazil my friend shakes me back to reality
“Time to go!” She chirps “Here’s the homework”
The paper that lays before me looks foreign,
It was covered in different shapes.
I had no idea what to do to this strange piece of paper.
I wasn't listening to what I had to do
Because I was out on an adventure
Now I’m going to go on another.
