walls
In the darkness I feel it most,
When it's silent and I'm all alone;
But my world is always dark:
It's hard for light to penetrate my
walls,
Without even meaning to I built them
too high, too strong, too wide.
The intent was to jump
Because even falling is flying.
Now that I'm here with one foot
dangling over the edge,
Troubling "what if's" start racing
through my head.
For the fear is not in death
But rather in failing to die as I
have failed all else.
