Safety First, Always

Safety, always, no matter the wind;

A place of rest, no matter the heart-racket.

Her heart, his gaze, their united presence;

Air, a first breath free.

Hardwood kitchen turned tile,

Checkered back splash outdated.

Handles and knobs, all brass and dusted;

Trash compactor now screams, age trembling.

Colossal television screen turned modern,

Couches and chairs placed all different.

His chair, by place of fire, always there'

Her couch's end, by touch-lamp, always imprinted of her.

Let me walk in, and cooking still be doing,

And floors be back to wooden luster.

Don't dismantle compactor or replace his chair with better;

No--change--don't drown us just yet.

Safety, always, no matter the wind;

A place of rest, no matter the heart-racket.

Her heart, his gaze, their united presence;

Air, a first breath free.
