I can't go back now.
I missed you before I met you.
  I counted every breath,
knowing that someday you’d be mine.
  I waited for you.
  I waited.
  And waited.
Until one day you showed up.
  You’re presence shined so bright.
  You overpowered me.
  You blurred my thoughts.
  I fell for you.
All of my waiting hung suspended above us.
With your words clouding my judgement,
I fell. Not for you, but back.
Back to the longing for love.
Back to the feeling of alone.
Even when I’m with you, I’m alone.
I missed the person you could have been.
The person you were in my mind,
  But never truly were.
And now I miss the person I once was.
The person I was before I met you.
