A Mother's Perspective
Six days late
Something told me to go
To the hospital and wait
With my daughter
Abigail by my side
We waited for J.C.
To get home from school and our ride
My sister rushed to my home
To take care of the kids
And be their chaperone
With my Mom on her way
All he had to do was stay
Stay he did, labor came not
He stayed in,
"you little snot!"
Into surgery we went,
Seven hard hours later
To deliver my little procrastinator
At 11:27
Out came
My little slice of heaven
At 8lb 9oz
And 21inches long
But then
I new something was wrong
I didn't get to see him at first,
The doctors whisked him away
I got scared,
Looked at my mom
To see what she'd say
She left my side to go see
When she returned
She brought him to me
But the gift given
To my little man
Was that he had no left hand
Twice before I asked
With my other children,
"ten fingers, ten toes?"
With tears in her eyes
She replied "No"
I looked at her
With tears of joy to say
"God made him that way"
