Everything happens for a reason

Look I know you have dead eyes.

They don't work and you screamed at the world;

"Why, why, why" as the chair was smashed.

I know your eyes are dead,

But let's not forget the fear you saw in mine.

You relished in what you read.

Sure you can't read a book,

But you can read a punctured spirit.

Now it's been a year,

Seventeen months to be exact.

Oh, you said you loved me.

But what have you done to show that?

Have you walked into that court room,

Handed in those golden papers,

And let me run into your arms?

No... you didn't even try

You didn't even take a shot.

Where's your gun now?

You say "I can't see you, baby"

You say "It's too complicated"

You said you loved me,

You said you couldn't try,

You say a lot of things,

But Daddy, I see right through your punctured soul

And I know the truth behind what you stole.

The author's comments:

The poet Gary Soto inspired me to include sarcasm in my work, which gives new visions for me to see poetry. I hope people when they read my work that they can relate to the sadness of being dissappointed in a relationship.
