I See the Light
I see the light at San Francisco
the sparkle of the Bay Bridge
       shine of the Golden Gate
The luminous city floating in the sea
  Dawn appears to reveal
oppressive fog covering the valley with
            chill and moisture
hindering sight until the sun shines
burning the blanket as it lifts
Pastel buildings sit along rolling hills
       and steep streets arranged in
            a grid showcase
     Victorian Ladyfinger domiciles
         Towers of pristine white cement
            Vibrant corner parks
               Old churches
                  Piers and wharf
There’s light warm air that rises
       under serene skies
Feel the breeze that kisses your cheek
                 leaving your skin tingling
            and hungry for more
  Crisp shadows stretch
       reaching farther and farther
              until the wind sweeps in
                   bringing with it
the icy breath of the bay
that once again coats the city in mist
But the light still spreads persistently
It can be seen even from Alcatraz
            accompanied by the joyful laughter
       and whisper of promise
drifting in from the glowing city
