the Monster in My Dreams

He came and stomped, all in song
He was an ugly, nasty beast

He came on the most random days
He was never caught for his wicked ways
No knock at the door for you to prepare
No knowing when you'll take your last breath of air
We all lit candles to keep him away
We'd bow our heads, and we'd pray
My family and I all sat in a circle
Squeezing eachothers hands till they turned purple
That night, most families were perfectly fine
Because he ended up choosing mine
Before we all, one-by-one died
I LOVE YOU ALL! I screamed, I cried...

When I was younger I had these frequent nightmares. This disgusting monster would coming stomping threw my neighborhood and kill one family each time. When my English teacher read the poem, he thought it was creative, but very depressing. However, to me, this poem is happy because my family's relationship isnt very close and at the end of this poem, we do die. But, we are holding hands and we put all of the drama behind us, admitting we love eachother.
