Assembly of the Ordinaries
I stepped out of the yellow bus,
Winter weather grey sweater covering my true self.
Glanced up and saw the jaded colored snowflakes;
From the sky to the ground with its gradual pace.
Each flake with its one in million intricate design;
From sky to ground it fell to become ordinary
Adorned the same colors as others,
Fell at the same pace as others.
It assembled together on the concrete to unite- hiding itself
And losing its uniqueness.
Mixing with the other to become ordinary.
Stepped inside the same door everyone stepped into;
Walked in the same direction,
Took the same path- to become ordinary.
I stood next to the dull colored lockers
And joined the assembly of the ordinaries.
Ordinary people on their everyday jaded conversations;
Talk fest on the same tunes they listen to,
On the same problems they challenge themselves to.
And here I am now,
Waiting to elevate,
Waiting for different doors to open,
And do what I am meant to do and fly at high altitudes.
Fly with my bright yellow wings,
For the ordinaries to look at from the concrete.
Fly with my bright yellow wings,
To become myself, to reveal myself.
