Serenity
I take a deep breath,
Inhaling a sweet aroma of reassurance.
I look into a stream of clear water.
I don’t just see another reflection staring back at me,
I recognize my own self.
The fog has been lifted,
Now exposing a vibrant clearing.
Sunlight pours in, shining the life back into my eyes.
The heavy shackles break off me.
As I stare at myself, I smile.
I am me,
Not anyone else, not an enemy of myself,
I am myself.
Feeling the light, gentle breeze,
I am set free.
I don’t have to fight anymore,
For I am my own person,
Who now is born again.
