The Someday
I can feel the tiny kicks and tiny punches
of tiny hands and feet
I can hear the heartbeat
of my future
I feel the growing, changing, transforming
of my life all the time
I imagine what the face will look like
the grasp of little fingers
The cries, the laughs, the smiles
I'm filled with hope and worry
The day is coming
I feel it creeping closer
The day that my fate changes
when our destinies intertwine
The day that I will hold you
and look into your eyes
I will see the similarity between us
and burst with unmasked pride
The days will turn into months and years
as I watch you grow
I will know I made the choice
to give a life without regret.
