My Sport
Running is all I ever do. Up and down
In and out round and round cross the finish line
Feeling the sweat running down my face
Feeling the rush of the cold wind pushing against me
Slowing down to rest during the race
Blisters all over my feet sore legs from running so much
Shin splints kicking in once again
Sun shining down on the runners burning the skin
Runners encouraging each other during the race
Trying to get every one through the finish
Parents outside the coarse cheering for the teams
Cameras pointing out at the runners and the timers timing
Hearing “come on ladies” from other teams
Coaches pushing us to the extreme.
Last mile and the race will be over
The pressure builds up trying to beat other teams
Trying to push them to the max to get them across
Carrying your teams mate on along with you
Trying to help them cross
Coach tells me to run faster I’m almost there
I can see the finish mark half way there
I start to sprint as fast as I could run
Running past five other teams that are racing
Sprint some more pushing my self over my limit
Finally it’s over the race is finished
Trying to breathe as I collapse and tear up
Trying to talk to the coach but no sound
Gave me my water from the tent and helped me up
Hugged the coach and he said to me “nice work”
Parents coming up to me hugging me
My parents there to help me.
My legs are like noodles sore and wobbly
Dad is carrying me to the car knowing
I wasn’t able to walk after the run
It was all worth it in the end when
Running is all that you ever do.
