ACID RAIN // DEAD LEAVES
Sleeplessness doesn’t ever really wait around
all that long,
skipping from one night
To the next, but when it rains,
man, does it pour.
You know what I’m talking about.
When you’re never comfortable
and your own tongue tastes sour.
There’s a certain calm that tends to
creep up on you
when you’re staring
At a streetlight at 3 am. Kind of like
that feeling you get when you know you have
all your bases covered. I mean,
it’s pretty negligent
under the thick fog
Of sleep deprivation, but it’s there. But, like,
have you ever had to jolt yourself awake
After a rough night?
Try to shake off the leaves
And dirt?
It’ll make you wish that feeling back.
