Shattered friendships
Tonight I'm on my knees
Fumbling
With shaky fingers.
My attempts
At reassembling
Failing catastrophically.
My attempts at picking up
And putting together
The pieces
Of friendship
That was shattered
Then scattered
By you;
Unsuccessful.
The pieces were tossed
Carelessly on the floor
To be trampled
And kicked.
Pieces to be destroyed
Beyond the point of fixing.
You
Aware or unaware
Of the pain you cause?
Me
Aware or unaware
Of what actions
Could have possibly destroyed
The one relationship that was real?
My broken heart pools
Like blood from a wound
As I lie lifeless
On the cold hard floor.
My body has life
But at the same time doesn't.
My body breathes
But is not alive.
My body functions
But does not want to.
