Teenagers today often spend a great deal of time playing video games. These games are fun and engaging and young people often feel like playing games is a great thing to do in their spare time. However, you shouldn’t spend too much time gaming and there are a number of reasons for this it’s unhealthy. Kids  should spend more time studying and more time to socialize more and make new friends.

The primary reason to cut down on gaming time has to be that youths that spend a long time on computers and games consoles are often not getting enough exercise. With high obesity rates, it’s very important for young people to spend as much time being active as possible, especially since studies show that people who are overweight during childhood and adolescence are far more likely to become overweight adults than those of a healthy weight when they’re young. There is just as much if not more fun to be had in getting out and about and being active. This doesn’t have to mean going for long runs if that’s not your thing team sports are both fun and great exercise. Dance or fitness classes are also a good option for those not into sports.Besides its pervasiveness, I believe the most dangerous aspect of video game addiction is the lack of awareness. Currently, many parents in the United States see nothing wrong with video games; some may even believe that gaming benefits their children. Little do they realize that major game manufacturers hire expert psychologists to study their games and ensure that each game contains addictive components similar to what tobacco companies did with their cigarettes.Yes some people may argue that it is good to learn new things from games and they say that games is a good thing because kids and teens can connect and make new friends.

Video game addiction is a relatively new discovery, and the amount of publicity focusing on it will gradually increase. But as consumers, parents should not wait until video games are publicly acknowledged as harmful and addictive. Parents need to start limiting their children's time spent on gaming. Wellness classes in schools should include a section about non-substance addiction like video games in their curriculums. Parents must raise awareness about video games before it harms kids.
