Backdrop Musician
It decidedly has a place among the other artwork.
Walking into the house, one could not miss it.
No, not the sturdy frame, nor the mysterious outlines
Cut from hours of dedication.
At its center is music.
The paper girl sits at the piano with a long flowing skirt,
Her two accompanists around her.
The flute trills and the cello sings.
But it’s the frills on the lady’s skirt that stand out.
The magnificent ripples of finite detail
Coming together to form a charade of elegance.
Hands resting lightly on the keys, ready to begin.
Her core is formed on excellence and the arts,
Reflecting out in the proud posture
And the jaunty tilt of her companions’ heads.
A still-life reminder of my surroundings.

I guess art really can be a muse.
