You can find me on the top of a highly guarded tower. Neatly coiled around and spun like a web, keeping the prisoners in and the dangers lurking about out. I've learned to keep myself guarded, while my heart is imprisoned with the piercing reminders of its protection.
You can find me warped and rusted in a field behind a barn, long forgotten. I have been left behind far too many times.
I am solid steel, unbreakable but still able to bend. Though events in my life have brought me to my knees, they have also made me stronger. I know how to move through the courses of life.
You can find my remains on the grounds where the wars have taken place. Even after every battle, victorious or not, when the wounds have turned into scars, they stay as a constant memory of troubles long ago.
People have tattooed me on themselves to make them look as resilient as the steel that comprises me. I am here to secure the ones who are dearest to my most guarded heart.
I have also been used for the art of abstract. It may take more than one look, to truly see me as I am, and that’s okay. Once you finally see, it is beauty.
One more thing you should know before you go. Be careful how you use me, because you might only inflict pain on yourself. For, I am protected with thorns you might have over looked.
Danger cannot always clearly be seen.
So much depends on these chain links and barb wires.
