Impressions
There are no footprints but my own,
Printed in the sand,
Fading ever so slowly, the way impressions do,
When the water is so cold
Could I stay here forever?
With the tides and the infinity they bring,
And the silence and the sea foam
My knees now make the impression,
As I sink,
And the moon reflects on the water,
And the water reflects on me
Where the tide curves and engulfs,
And the impression I made,
Is replaced with new sand,
And the water goes about its gentle course,
And pays no never-mind to me
Could I stay here forever?
My salt now a part of the sea,
For my feelings are strong and the ocean is forver,
But I am not
