Overcome
This pain she feels,
It's worse than being shot.
Being shot in the stomach,
Her pain is worse than that.
She waits so long,
For someone to save her.
As if she was stuck under a boat,
Drowning with nobody around.
She's so lost in this life,
Left with nowhere to go.
She feels like a baby deer lost in an open meadow,
With nobody to guide her way.
But somedays she manages,
She can smile as bright as the sun shines.
She ignores the pain for a while,
Although it hurts her as a knife would hurt skin.
But she has her friends and family,
One big community,
To go to for help.
She knows now she will get better.
And someday her life,
It will be like a still body of water.
She knows depression is painful,
And she knows it's an enemy to conquer.
But somedays it helps,
When she can see the sun shine so bright.
And somday I will overcome this.

This poem was written while I was dealing with depression and trying to overcome it. I was starting to realize that I wasn't completely alone and if I truly want to feel better, I have to try. And that's what I did.
