Plastic Bottle Writers

we clutch recycled ideas to our chests
cling to them as the hobo clings to the
black bag of plastic bottles on his back as he
pushes his shopping cart across the city bridge
we cash them in for money,
so they can be used again,
and, settling down in our homes of plastic,
call ourselves writers
