Raindrops
Every time it rains
Beauty is only seen
In the faint colors painting the new sky.
Yet, every time it rains,
The ocean celebrates
For it grows and rages in chaotic happiness.
Every time it rains
The clouds are seen as bitter and mournful,
But who or what are they mourning
Because as each cool drop falls upon the Earth
A new life is born
As the powerful waves of the ocean
Or a new blossom rising from the dirt.
Every time it rains
The ravishing heat of the sun
Rests against the soft curves of the clouds.
They dance in a swirling array
Of grays,
And whites,
And yellows.
Melting into the tranquil black abyss
Surrounding the dying light of the stars
As new ones are reborn again
And as the stale beauty
Of the human race expires
There will still be raindrops
To replenish the Earth we once walked upon.
Towering trees will crush the skyscrapers,
And vines will wrap around that old porch swing
That we used to rest on in the spring time.
Hurricanes will erode our crumbling past
And the Earth will tremble and shake
And be whole once again.
