Does it bother you?
Does it bother you that I walk with my head high?
My smile is always bright?
My legs are always crossed?
And I pop up by surprise?
Does it bother you?
Does it bother you that my legs are always kept shaved?
My clothes are never too tight?
And when I wake up in the morning the sun shines oh so bright?
Does it bother you?
Does it bother you that my hands and feet are always looking nice?
That I have an arch in my back so soft and wondrous?
Every time I notice you, well is should say every time you notice me
You put a look on your face as if I had said something mean?
Maybe it’s the fire in my eyes
Or the purse in my lips
Probably the joy in my smile
Oh, maybe it’s the curve of my hips
I almost forgot, the sassiness in my walk
And the appealing tone of my voice
It’s probably the clothes I wear, buts its your choice if you chose to stare
But does that bother you?

I was inspired to write this poem as I listened to Maya Angelou's Poem "Still I Rise"
