Dreams of a Setting Sun
Why can’t we all just float away
And listen to the wind from our beds
As the world races outside our windows?
Why can’t we all just be
And never bear
the burden of our dusty stones?
Why can’t we all just live
Without watches
on bound wrists?
Why can’t I just disconnect
And watch the sun set a thousand times,
Still, as a leaning lily?
Has all the color left the world?
From whence has it come and gone?
If I could blink for just more than a moment,
Would I find it cradled in Dawn?
