Saved From the Darkness
Sometimes you are captivated by the things of which you should be afraid
Instead you are drawn to them because of the path you have made
Your mind has decayed
The people who love you have betrayed
You try to run from the future you have set
But now your life is in eternal debt
The people around you try to tear you down
So your only friend you have found
You have found your solution; death by the blade
It is the end of your life which you have made
You are just about to end your life
With just one quick swish of the knife
When someone you didn’t realize was there
Someone who truly cared came bursting in
This was not a fight you could win
He came in and pulled you close
You are his one and only perfect rose
He loves you with all his heart
You doing this is tearing him apart
He’s holding on to you
Your life escaping away
But there is no way this will be your last day
He isn’t going to let you take your life away
Even as you start to drift
Your eyelids he tries to make you lift
He is making you cling to your life
He wanted you to be his wife
You are now in the hospital three days later
What happened, you cannot remember
All you know is he is right there by your side
His pain and sorrow he cannot hide
He didn’t realize you have so many scars
He pulls you tight into his arms
He thought your life had all drifted away
But now he gets to see your smile at least one more day
Out of nowhere he falls to the ground
He knows it’s his future he has found
He pulls out a ring that means more than a lot
A ring that holds the memories of all the battles you have fought
Your eyes begin to fill with tears
How could this be true even after all these years?
He grabs our hand and kisses your scars
He asks you to be his wife
His eternal partner for the rest of your life
You no longer go to turn to the blade
Of the future you are not afraid

This piece of writing in particular is both stemming from personal experiences as well as fictional ways on which the growing problem of self harm could be stopped. This problem should be made aware of and not only so that you are aware of what it is doing to the person, but also the people around them who are being hurt by this damaged person's actions.
