I Feared
I was afraid of spiders,
afraid of their thin spindly legs
covered in tiny black hairs
and their many piercing, beady eyes.
I saw their hollow hairy bodies engulfing me,
crawling over my face, swarming into my mouth,
and dragging me
down.
Now I am afraid of death,
afraid of its black cloaked figure
that hovers beside me
and waits with all-seeing, patient eyes.
I see its wispy blackness flowing into me,
stretching over my soul, clenching my heart,
and dragging me
down.
