Where I'm From
  Where I’m From:
I’m from the color outside of the lines,
  the spilled orange juice,
and sunny-rainy days in the summer.
I am tied to early flourishes of color in the morning,
  the collection of nothing-special-rocks
and the growing obsession of super heroes.
I’m breaking away from the fluffy dresses to church,
the reading of prescribed pages for class-reading books
and the yearning to be good at things I will never be good at.
I am growing into something uncharted and foreign,
  something I think I like,
like spicy food that you can’t really handle,
  but tastes great.
I am from not that “you’re all special” crud,
I am from the the side of town
that no one cared to chart,
  because it is ever expanding,
like the clouds on a rainy day.
No one ever bothered to figure me out,
  including me.
  I even surprise myself,
  lucky me.
I am from a place where you are never bored.
