The Yells That Make The Music
She sits and listens to the yells.
The screams all flow together,
so she doesn’t know which are hers,
and which belong to the parents she loves so much.
A black angry cloud forms in her mind,
making everything bundle up,
into one big ball of anger and terror.
The only escape is through her music,
the flowing feeling, like rain,
which opens up her soul,
and allows her to create.
She can feel love again,
when she is with the music,
which is eventually matches her heartbeat.
But the music stops, along with the world,
and suddenly she is torn open.
All of the anger rushes back in,
with bright ugly lights and new homes.
Two sets of parents,
two unconnected bedroom sanctuaries,
one lonely girl.
Longing for the day she can escape,
lost in her music,
her art,
and once again know love.
