I'll Always Lean On You
Indulgent warmth
Line bland clothes
Your back against me
Sturdy and tender,
I take part in its presence
My side is leaning to you
A friend,
The most basic unit of love.
But turned it sour; and parasitic.
Taken for granted,
At every glance towards me.
Others around me clump together,
Muddled hugs celebration,
I still lean, alone
Flickered hope preserved
Loathing and dismissing self-pity,
I stay.
But I hate my past,
I’m blind and pliable in the present,
All while hoping for the future-
No awakening to be had,
“Be grateful for what you have,”
They say; as their own friends
Continue to fade away.
