Scratches                                  Wind

On the wall                               Pounding against the walls
Under the door                          Screaming at the door
Scarring the ceiling                    Pouncing on the ceiling

On                                            Pounding
The white walls                         My strong walls
The barren walls                        Those tall walls
The bleak walls                         The resilient walls

Marking the days                       Keeping me insulated
With scratches                           From the wind

On the wall                               Pounding against the walls
Under the door                         Screaming at the door
Scarring the ceiling                   Pouncing on the ceiling

Under                                       Screaming
That closed door                       At that solid door
The locked door                        At the secure door
The white door                         At the protective door

Counting the days                    Guarding me
With scratches                          From the cold
                                               In an asylum
                                               Lined
                                              With scratches

                           It’s warmer here
                           In the winter.

Three columns, the first two are left and right justified while the last two lines are centered. (Sorry, the formatting of my last poem was off and it really messed with my OCD).

This piece was inspired by my desire to go outside during the winter months coliding with my hatred for the cold. Being confined to the indoors drives me insane, I NEED the sun.
