Sounds of Joy
I hear the bells ringing
Ringing out in the distance
Chiming melodiously together
The bells of freedom
I hear the train chugging
Chugging along through the valley
Blowing its whistle at every stop
The train full of love
I hear the birds singing
Singing chipper happy songs
Tweeting harmonies at daybreak
The birds sing of hope
Yet I see the people dragging their feet, and hanging their heads
Do they not hear the bells?
The trains? The birds?
Can they not hear the freedom, the love, and the hope?
Do they not have ears?
Or perhaps they aren’t listening.
