Live in the Moment
Why is it that no one stops for a minute?
Not to listen
Not to talk
Everyone just goes about life thinking that this is it.
Why should they bother?
To visit family
Hang with friends
Who has the time anymore?
You are selfish
You live a life that is just about you!
All you want
Is to make some money
Meet someone
Fall in love.
But to do that
Do you really have to give up
Your family?
Your friends?
Because you know one day
You're gonna be really happy
You're gonna have
That great job
That white picket fence
Those 2.5 children
Then. . .
You find out that your grandfather died.
Then all you feel is sorry for yourself
You tath one person
You tell yourself that you should've seen them more.
That you need to appreciate those moments.
But really you just go back to your everyday self.
After a while. . .
You don't think about it
But then it happens again. . .
And again. . And again
Until no one is left in your family
But you
The question is. . .
Who will mourn you?
If you don't appreciate the little moments then
Being with your family,
It won't matter
Because the only things you will have left
Is marriage and death.

I was inspired to write this piece because it feels like the only time my family gets together is because someone is getting married or we are all attending a funeral in the family.
Everyone works and has their own family to take care of, but at the same time. . . I feel like people should realize that you never know when someone close to you may die. I think everyone just needs to appreciate those moments that it seems no one even thinks about.
Maybe it's a joke be retold again. . . the way someone always smells, their smile. . . either way these are the moments that are going to stick with you when that person is gone.
