Mama Said
  I wear a white dress
  Mama said don’t stain
  As she curled my hair
Pulling it more than I felt necessary
I slept 10 hours every night
Cause mama said to get beauty rest
But each morning I’d wake up
Disappointed, never seeing what she saw
I’d take a lunch to school with me
Cause mama said a growing girl should never be hungry
  I would starve myself
  Because my peers thought otherwise
My mama said never fall in love with a fool
  But I did
Cause I am too much like mama
  I wear a white dress
  That mama said don’t stain
As I lay her in a white one too
Mama said don’t cry when she’s gone
But I’ve never been good at listening to mama
