Our Generation
Attention always at the palm of our hands,
The fire alarm activated, not knowing if it’s a drill or not,
But social media is more important
Sitting in the lunch room not touching our food
Instead bringing it back to class to eat
All because we haven't scrolled for a class period
Test day and you have no idea what to expect
None of the questions look familiar,
But your Iphone was more important than review--
Who even goes to the bathroom these days?
More like a break to take a snapchat
But who just doesn't take them in class?
Taking the elevator from the second floor to the first
Which holds the capacity of two students, not eight
But--what high school student thinks about that?
There is only one thing going through our minds--
But first let me take a selfie--
Not that the elevator could break within any given moment
We as teenagers get caught up in the moment,
But it’s not always our fault
Technology is big, it’s right at the base of our hands
But who is to blame for that
It takes hours of our day,
But this is just how our generation is
